Three potassium fulvate grades — powder, flake and granule — combining humic acid, fulvic acid and potassium in one water-soluble product. The ratio between the two acids is the main difference between them, and it decides whether the product works mainly on the soil or mainly on the plant.
What makes potassium fulvate different from plain humic acid
Humic acid improves soil structure: it binds soil particles into aggregates, raises cation exchange capacity and holds water. It is largely insoluble in acid conditions, which limits how it can be applied. Fulvic acid is the smaller fraction of the same material; it is soluble across a much wider pH range and small enough to enter the leaf. Potassium fulvate combines both fractions with potassium, so one product delivers a soil conditioner, a chelating agent and a potassium source.
That combination is why these grades are specified by buyers who want to reduce the number of products in a programme, and why the same product can be sold into soil conditioning, fertigation and foliar use without changing the SKU.

The three grades run in opposite directions, which is the single most important thing to understand before specifying one. The powder carries the highest humic acid (≥ 70%) and the lowest fulvic (≥ 5%): it is a soil conditioner first. The granule reverses that, with ≥ 50% fulvic and ≥ 55% humic: it is a plant-available chelator that happens to be granular. The flake sits between them at ≥ 60% humic and ≥ 30% fulvic.
Potassium is close to constant across the range at 10–12% K2O, so it is not the deciding variable. A buyer who compares these three on potassium content will find them almost identical and will miss the actual difference.
Choosing by target
- Poor soil structure, low organic matter, hard-setting ground — the powder. Humic acid ≥ 70% is doing the work, and a powder is the practical way to put a large amount of it into the soil.
- A balanced programme that needs both soil conditioning and foliar uptake — the flake. ≥ 60% humic for the soil and ≥ 30% fulvic for the plant, in a form that dissolves completely.
- Nutrient lock-up, high-pH water, calcareous soil, or foliar work where the chelating effect is the point — the granule, with ≥ 50% fulvic acid and the lowest moisture of the three.
pH and tank-mixing
All three grades are alkaline, pH 8.0–11.0, and the powder spans the widest. That alkalinity is useful in acid soils and inconvenient in a tank with acidic actives. Where a programme includes both, apply them separately rather than compromising the mix, and run a jar test before any new combination goes into a full tank. Water hardness matters as well: in hard water the humic fraction will bind calcium and magnesium, which is a benefit in the soil and a nuisance in a spray line if the concentration is too high.
